Havelock Towers Paranormal Investigation
We return back to Havelock Towers in Sunderland, which has been an active location to us in the past.
Built in 1884 as an overflow from a larger workhouse, Havelock Towers became a notorious house in a poverty stricken area of Sunderland.
This would have been an unpleasant place to live, and it enabled the guardians of the workhouses to justify tough discipline. Beatings and physical abuse designed to put the fear of god into you, and since then people have reflected on their childhood memories here as seeing boys thrown down stairs, physical and sexual abuse.
The naughty boy’s cupboards are still visible. Double locks are still on the doors, and it was here that children were put as a form of detention, and those that cry or scream, put behind another door within a door, the walls drowning out their emotions.
📍Deptford and Millfield Community Centre, 270 Hylton Road, Sunderland, SR47XJ
🚃 Millfield Metro station is about 700m away for anyone arriving via public transport
🕰️ 20:00 - 02:00
🎟️ £25pp
🚗 The community centre does not have a carpark of its own, so all parking is on the street. You can park along Peacock Street with runs down the side of the building, past Steels Social Club. We can also use the carpark at the end of the street on the left hand side behind Peacock Tyres. Don’t park in the University of Sunderland accommodation carpark.
🔎 We will be investigating a large building that has had various parts built into it across different periods of time. This will include the original orphanage, as well as punishment rooms and former bedrooms. Please note that some rooms may be locked due to being used by various community groups. The building is accessible, and has its own lifts.
☕️ Snacks & hot drinks will be provided for guests during the night.
🔦 The building will be dark once we begin the investigation. For anyone not wishing to use a torch, Sunderland hospital is directly opposite.
