Something rather unusual is stirring within the grounds of Barnton Bunker this Halloween, and on Halloween night itself, The Feast takes a darker turn...

Scottish history and folklore are about to collide as Greyfriar's Bobby and William Wallace face their most unlikely adversary yet: The Haggis! And this particular Haggis has rather more sinister intentions than simply appearing on a dinner plate.

On Saturday 31 October 2026, join us for a special Halloween night edition of our Haunted Bunker Maze, with a greater emphasis on scares, suspense and frightening encounters for those brave enough to enter.

This is Halloween night, after all, and we're turning up the fright factor.

While the experience remains rooted in Scottish folklore and original storytelling, visitors can expect a darker atmosphere, sinister characters, unsettling scenes and jump scares from live performers. There's still room for the occasional moment of unexpected humour, because a supernatural Haggis taking on two of Scotland's most unlikely heroes was never going to be entirely serious!

Behind the scares is a passionate group of local and international volunteers who have imagined, designed and built this unusual world from the ground up. From handcrafted sets and props made with salvaged materials to atmospheric lighting, sound and live performances, it's a labour of love created to entertain, surprise and give visitors a few Halloween frights to remember.

Choose Your Halloween Night Experience

Child-Friendly Experience: 6:30pm & 7:00pm

Our two earlier sessions offer a gentler introduction to The Feast, focusing on characters, atmosphere and storytelling rather than intense scares. A chance for younger visitors and families to enjoy the Halloween experience before things take a darker turn.

Halloween Night Adult Experience: From 7:30pm

As darkness settles over Barnton Bunker, the scares intensify.

Expect frightening characters, darker theatrical scenes, suspense and jump scares from live scare actors as you make your way through the maze. This special Halloween night edition places greater emphasis on frightening encounters while retaining the strange storytelling, Scottish folklore and dark humour that make The Feast so unusual.

Please note: Later sessions are designed to be more frightening. Children aged 5–13 may attend at the discretion of their accompanying adult, but please consider whether the scares are suitable. Under 5s cannot attend Adult Experience sessions.

Dates, Tickets & Visitor Information

Date: Saturday 31 October 2026 — Halloween Night

Tour times: 6:30pm and 7:00pm (child-friendly sessions), followed by adult sessions at 7:30pm, 8:00pm, 8:30pm, 9:30pm, 10:00pm and 10:30pm.

Location: Barnton Bunker, 35 Clermiston Road North, Edinburgh, EH4 7BN

Duration: Approximately 20 minutes per experience

Tickets:

• Ages 14+: £15
• Ages 5–13: £5
• Under 5s: Free (6:30pm child-friendly session only)

All visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The experience takes place at surface level within the former WWII RAF Fighter Command Operations complex. The underground bunker is not accessed during this event.

The historic site includes uneven ground and outdoor areas and is not currently wheelchair accessible. Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.

Please arrive 5–10 minutes before your booked session.

A Halloween Night Supporting Barnton Bunker's Future

Behind the strange creatures, frightening encounters and Halloween mischief is something much more meaningful.

This event is entirely volunteer-led, with funds raised supporting the Barnton Bunker Preservation Society SCIO and our plans for a new Visitor Centre, helping preserve an important part of Edinburgh's history for future generations.

Every handmade scene, unusual character and unexpected scare reflects the creativity and dedication of the volunteers who have brought this experience to life.
