About this Event

Are you a parent/grandparent/guardian who want to create meaningful time together with a special child in your life? Do you want to eat more local food, enjoy being outside, or have an adventure cooking with your child? Then this workshop might be for you! This is more than just a cooking class but a guided experience in the living world. Join me, community farm chef Kori Kanayama on my and my partner Ben's beautiful regenerative farm in Grass Lake where the public has been enjoying upick all season long! I welcome you and your child to harvest ecologically-grown produce before preparing onigiri, the Japanese rice ball and popular lunch staple in the open farm kitchen and another simple dish using the vegetables you just picked. My small-group workshops are relaxed, hands-on, and centered around fresh local ingredients and meaningful connection. I can't wait to see you here!

Age range suggestion: For the combination of harvesting, washing produce, and cooking, I believe that most children ages 8 (3rd grade) and above will be able to participate fully. Younger children who cook at home will likely be a good fit. Children who have come to the farm have enjoyed picking vegetables so much that they have a hard time stopping! Chopping produce will be minimal. Please bring a knife your child uses at home if there is one. If you child is new to chopping vegetables, you can do that part. Feel free to text your questions to 909-363-5430.
