The Terrified Tango Orchestra has been bringing the beauty and angst of Argentine tango to Connecticut since 2025. Based in Stafford Springs, the ensemble performs monthly milongas at their home venue — intimate evenings that draw dancers and listeners alike into the drama and elegance of one of the world’s great dance traditions.
Their ever-growing library of original arrangements spans classic tango, nuevo, and alternative styles — each piece shaped by the ensemble’s own musical sensibilities while remaining true to tradition. The result is a repertoire that honors the form while keeping it vital and surprising.
The Orchestra is Teri Herel and Warren Barnes on clarinet and Jessie Makela on piano. Together they bring a chamber-music intimacy to the tango floor — small in number, large in presence.
