Hartlepool Place Partnership planning session

Sport England is taking the learning from 12 of their “Local Delivery Pilots” – which enable & encourage citizens in a particular place to become more physically active – and expand the number of places with which they will work. Hartlepool has an exciting opportunity from Sport England to partner with them in a “whole system, place-based” approach to increasing physical activity in the town. We would like to share further information about this approach and hear your ideas at this initial planning session.

We appreciate that not everyone will be able to make this date so we will arrange other means through which ideas can be contributed – including an online briefing (date tbc). There will in addition be plenty of further opportunities to get involved.

The July 11th session is just to get the thinking underway and to explain more about the approach required. The session’s purpose is to:

o Develop a shared understanding of what Sport England mean by a “whole system place-based approach” and the key elements of this approach.

o Share examples of how the “whole system, place-based” approach has worked elsewhere, and consider how/if we are using this approach in Hartlepool.

o Begin to understand where we are now re. facilitating physical activity – so we can determine what more could be done to get Hartlepool residents to become more physically active.

o Begin to plan for the Sport England “development award” application. (The development award provides some funding to develop the main application for a 5 year investment from Sport England.)
