Our summer concert opens with the warmth and charm of Emmanuel Chabrier’s Suite Pastorale, followed by the delicate beauty and colourful imagination of Claude Debussy’s Petite Suite.
In the second half, we shine a light on one of the nineteenth century’s most remarkable yet overlooked composers. Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 1 is a powerful and inspiring work, filled with lyrical melodies, dramatic energy and masterful orchestral writing. Increasingly celebrated today, Farrenc’s music offers a thrilling opportunity to rediscover a major symphonic voice.
From pastoral landscapes and impressionistic colours to the grandeur of the Romantic symphony, this promises to be a memorable summer evening of live music.
