Harpy Eagle Nest Expedition

Colombia is the premier destination for seeing — and photographing — the Harpy Eagle up close. We have about six easily accessible nests where local communities have worked respectfully and together to protect this magnificent raptor. Four of these nests are in Meta: one in Vista Hermosa, one in San Juan de Arama, one near Caño Cristales, and one in Mesetas. Each site has its own charm, its own family, and a community that benefits from protecting the Harpy — the most powerful raptor in the world.

Every time a local opens their land to visitors, it’s to support the care of the ecosystem and their community. Right now, only one nest is active: San Juan de Arama, where the whole community is united in conserving this incredible species.
