Happy Hikers Club: Creeking at Sharon Woods!

Join the YMCA of Central Ohio’s Happy Hikers Club, in partnership with Columbus & Franklin County Metro Parks, for a hands-on creek exploration at Sharon Woods Metro Park! Wade into Spring Creek with nets and jars to discover the incredible creatures that call this vibrant habitat home. Plus, take part in a fun and educational water filtration activity led by our STEM Discovery Team. Visitors can stop by anytime during the event and stay as long as they want. This adventure is perfect for curious nature lovers who don’t mind getting a little wet—just make sure to wear closed-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind muddying. Please note: this event is not suitable for strollers.

Time: 10 am - 1 pm

Location: Sharon Woods Metro Park (6911 Cleveland Ave, Westerville, OH 43081)

Meet Up Point: Natural Play Area in the Apple Ridge Picnic Area. Take the first right when you enter the park, then go straight to the last parking lot. The Natural Play area is across from the playground. Signs will direct visitors down the trail to the creek.

Rain or Shine?: The program happens rain or shine; the program will not take place if there is lightning or thunder. Recommended items to bring, things to wear, etc: Visitors must wear closed-toed shoes and clothes that can get wet. Bug spray is highly recommended.

What is the length of the hike?: Trail is 0.1 miles down the trail

What type of path is the hike on? Packed dirt trail, creek has a rocky/sandy bottom
