Hanukkah Cha-Cha-Cha!
Skip Heller's Barry Sisters & Mickey Katz Tribute
A Mid-Century Musical Celebration Straight from the Catskills!
Step back in time to the golden age of the Catskills, when the Borscht Belt was booming, the comedians were legendary, and Jewish music had everyone dancing!
This Hanukkah, acclaimed bandleader Skip Heller and his full Klezmer band transport you to the fabulous 1950s and 1960s for an unforgettable evening of swinging Yiddish melodies, infectious Latin rhythms, old-world Klezmer, and classic Jewish humor!
Inspired by the legendary recordings of Bagels and Bongos, the unforgettable harmonies of The Barry Sisters, and the musical mischief of Mickey Katz, Hanukkah Cha-Cha-Cha! brings the soundtrack of mid-century Jewish America roaring back to life!
Imagine yourself at a glamorous Catskills supper club, surrounded by the sounds of clarinets, horns, lively rhythms, and the irresistible melodies that once filled the ballrooms of Grossinger's and the Concord Resort Hotel.
From Yiddish swing and mambo to traditional Klezmer favorites, this nostalgic musical celebration captures an era when Jewish entertainers blended the sounds of Eastern Europe with American jazz, Latin dance music, and a healthy helping of chutzpah!
Whether you grew up listening to these records, remember family vacations in the Catskills, or are discovering this wonderfully colorful chapter of Jewish musical history for the first time, this show promises laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of reasons to tap your feet.
You don't have to speak Yiddish to love this music, and you don't have to be Jewish to join the celebration!
