Hannah is a pianist, teacher and choir director. She read Modern Languages at Cambridge before studying for a Masters and Artist Diploma in piano performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, taught by Martin Roscoe and Caroline Palmer. Her studies were generously funded by a Help Musicians Postgraduate Performance Award, the Kenneth Loveland Gift, the Leverhulme Trust, the Fergal O’Mahoney Memorial Foundation, the Worshipful Company of Tallow Chandlers and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.

She worked for several years in London and Norwich as a freelance performer, with highlights including solo, chamber and song recitals at St Martin-in-the-Fields, the Barbican, LSO St Luke’s, Cardiff’s St David’s Hall, St John’s Smith Square and the Royal Festival Hall, as well as performances on Radio 3’s In Tune and Afternoon on 3; and a small scene in The Lady in the Van.

From 2017-2021 she worked as Music Director at All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral, Nairobi, while continuing to perform with both local and visiting international instrumentalists and singers, and as a concerto soloist with various local orchestras.

Luba is a versatile performer and enjoys a varied musical career playing both viola and violin. She has performed recitals at London’s Royal Festival Hall and St John's Smith Square, and made her debut as concerto soloist with the Philharmonia Orchestra in June 2016.

In 2011 while studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, she formed the Pelléas Ensemble; the dynamic flute, viola and harp trio released their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Nature and the Imagination’ on Linn Records in June 2021. They perform much of their music from memory and have been praised for their compelling performance and intimate connection with audiences. As strong advocates for this unusual combination of instruments, they have commissioned four new pieces and produced many of their own arrangements.

Luba has been a member of the Ruisi Quartet since 2016. They have performed extensively across the UK and abroad, participated in the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition, IMS Prussia Cove and the Britten-Pears Young Artists Programme. In November 2022 they gave the première of a Növények by Thomas Adès in the Wigmore Hall, London, and their debut album “Big House” was released in February 2023 on Pentatone.

From 2022-2024 Luba was Principal Viola of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra. As a guest Principal, she has done freelance work with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and as an associate Principal with the Britten Sinfonia.

As Principal Viola of the 12 ensemble, Luba features on the 2018 album, ‘Death and the Maiden’, and has performed at the BBC Proms, the Barbican, the Wigmore Hall and End of the Road Festival and alongside artists of all different genres such as Nick Cave, Jonny Greenwood, Kojey Radical and Laura Marling.
