We are proud to present a special double bill featuring two Sound Lounge favourites, Hannah Scott and James HodderHannah Scott has been reaching her widest audience yet with her much-praised current album Absence of Doubt. In fact, to underline that her songs are truly going up, up and away, the record was recently added to the New British Talent playlist by British Airways, and is now on their long-haul entertainment system.
Hannah was born in Suffolk and raised by an artist mother and an eccentric entertainer father, in a family that had music going back three generations to her songwriting great-grandmother. At the age of four, her father bought a second-hand piano for £70 from a friend in the pub and she didn’t look back, falling in love with both playing and listening to classical music. Picking up a guitar in her early teens as the influence of her peers and more contemporary music took hold, and she taught herself some simple chords that would lay the foundation for her earliest attempts at songwriting.
Hannah's career highlights include having her song No Gravity feature on the huge hit TV series Grey’s Anatomy, recording a live session for Dermot O’Leary's BBC Radio 2 show and opening for Madeleine Peyroux, performing to an audience of 2,000. She's also shared the stage with folk luminaries such as Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon and Fairport Convention and performed at festivals including Cambridge, Sidmouth and Manchester Folk. She thrives on the intimacy of performing in spaces where she can look audience members in the eye, which is what makes her Sound Lounge performances so special.
Sharing the bill, London-based troubadour James Hodder returns to our stage after guesting with Jerry Joseph in October. He fuses folk and Americana influences with bittersweet lyrics and storytelling. James' 2023 album Wilderness Road has brought his talents to a wider audience, with spins on some of the best Americana radio shows in the UK including Ralph McLean Country on BBC Radio Ulster, Mike Ritchie on Sunday for Celtic Music Radio and Richard Leader’s American Pie on Meridian FM.
Since that release, Hodder has played a string of UK festival dates including consecutive appearances at Black Deer and Maverick Festival, High Tide in Twickenham, Ramblin’ Roots Revue, Mid-Sussex Festival at Hassocks, and he was a showcase artist at the AMAUK in Hackney.
