HANDS-ON URBAN AGRICULTURE INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Asawana Farms is offering unpaid hands-on internships to University Students registered in Sustainable Urban Agriculture Certificate Programs at various colleges and universities around the DMV area. Students can earn Internship hours as part of their academic studies. The Internship program runs from April 19 – September 29, 2025.

The hands-on will be on Saturdays & Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Asawana Farms and will include tours and hands-on experiential learning sessions.

Hands-on Sessions will include:

· How to make your own organic compost

· Crop Pest and Disease Management at Asawana Farms

· Food as Medicine vegetables grown at Asawana Farms

· How to plant various specialty vegetables

· How we produce our own liquid fertilizer using comfrey that we grow

· Farm safety

· Nursing of vegetable seedlings

· Making & using low cost vertical gardens

· Transplanting of seedlings into the field after hardening

· Drip irrigation set up.
