Hands on the Willis Organ!
About this Event
Your chance to try playing a wonderfully restored Victorian pipe organ.
Free event. Those wishing to play the organ: please book a slot before the day by telling us in this form your preferred time to play.
Donations to the Organ Maintenance Fund are welcome. Cake, coffee and tea available.
Let our organ guides give you a close look at the Willis Pipe Organ. Put your hands on the keys, feet on the pedals and feel its power for yourself. Players bring some music and we can help you register the organ for you to play it.
Budding organists and pianists of all ages - please bring your favourite sheet music to try on the pipe organ.
The organ console is in the gallery which is reached by stairs. You are also welcome to have a closer look at the organ if you don’t play a musical instrument; this is your chance to be inquisitive.
An exhibition about this pipe organ and church will be on display. As we celebrate the 10th anniversary year since the restoration of the Willis organ, the everyday histories of this instrument including the ordinary yet extraordinary people who contributed so much to its story will feature in the display.
