Spend a hands-on morning learning from and working with our professional horticulturalists in the Cavendish family's Grade II listed, Victorian Walled Garden (closed to the public) - on this unique "from seed to vase" experience designed to inspire and delight.
- discover the history of the Garden, created by the 7th Duke of Devonshire in the mid-1800's
- get advice from the professional Gardening Team before selecting seeds to suit your garden
- sow your seeds under expert guidance, ready to take home with you at the end of the Experience
- hear about how the professional team use the Walled Garden space today and plans for the future
- watch demonstrations of seasonal horticultural techniques, get top professional gardening tips
- get among our extensive array of flowers grown to adorn The Hall and private residence and cut your own flower posy under guidance from our experts, ready to take home (vase supplied)
Tea, coffee and cake will be served to you during the morning in the beautiful setting of the Walled Garden where you'll have the chance get expert advice on your own specific gardening challenges and how to overcome them.
The private Walled Garden is just beyond the open gardens, access is along a path which is a little steep and will require sensible footwear. Please note that unfortunately the path is not suitable for wheelchair access.
