Lights, camera, action — and experimentation!
Join local filmmaker Caitlin Reid for a flexible, hands-on filmmaking workshop exploring the fundamentals of visual storytelling through creative prompts and simple filmmaking exercises. Participants will experiment with topics like camera work, lighting, sound, and visual style while discovering how small creative choices can dramatically change the mood, genre, and meaning of a scene.
Using short one-line scripts as creative starting points, participants can rotate through separate hands-on stations featuring different filmmaking gear and on-set roles, including cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and content creation tools. Participants are welcome to work independently or collaboratively using provided equipment or their own devices, with optional coaching and support throughout the workshop.
This sensory-friendly, drop-in style event is open to everyone and is designed to be especially supportive for neurodivergent participants and flexible learning styles. No prior filmmaking experience required!
Join us at the Ann Arbor Downtown Library: Lower Level Program Room (head to the basement, turn left at the bottom of the stairs, and the room will be at the end of the corridor on the left - or ask at the Circulation Desk!).
