About this Event
Hands on Color with Cameron Taylor-Brown
Nothing will improve the impact of your weaving, quilting, sewing, knitting or crochet than a foundation in color theory that includes value and contrast. “Hands on Color” offers an exploration of hue, value and intensity with an introduction to monochromatic, analogous and complementary color relationships.
In a half-day format, explore the glorious color components of hue, value, and intensity – while noting the added effects of fiber and yarn texture. Participants will create a yarn palette (no weaving) so this is perfect for quilters, knitters, sewists as well as weavers.
During the guild meeting before the workshop, Cameron will present a lecture “Conversation in Color,” a discussion of mixing color in warp and weft to obtain harmonious and dynamic effects. Even non-SCHG member articipants should plan to attend as this is part of the workshop.
Before she became an SCHG member, lecturer and teacher, Cameron Taylor-Brown was introduced to textiles at UC Berkley and then studied textile design at Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science where she also taught. Cameron serves on various boards including Textile Arts Los Angeles and the Fowler Textile Council. She offers workshops out of ARTSgarage, a textile resource center in Los Angeles.
