About this Event

10AM- Welcome Reception

11AM-1230PM Program

Attire: Business Casual | Service Dress

Today’s military nurses stand on the shoulders of those who came before them, a legacy that began 125 years ago with the establishment of the Army Nurse Corps. This milestone marked the first official entry of women into the U.S. military. These pioneers shaped the profession of military nursing and defined a path for generations of leadership and innovation in military medicine across every branch of service.

Experts and practitioners in nursing leadership, military care, and health policy will discuss military nursing as a critical component of operational readiness, force resilience, and strategic advantage. A fireside chat with Lieutenant General Patricia Horoho, US Army (Ret), followed by a panel discussion will explore the evolving role of nurses in combat, humanitarian, and peacetime settings, and the future of nursing at the forefront of integrated technologies.

A special feature of the event will include an exhibition of rarely displayed Army nursing uniforms and artifacts from the Memorial’s world-class collections, offering a powerful visual narrative of Army Nurse Corps’ service, sacrifice, and impact over more than a century.

Since 1997, the Military Women’s Memorial has been a place for our Nation to celebrate, honor, and remember our military women, past and present; preserve and tell their stories of service and sacrifice, ensuring they are a visible part of America’s history; and through their example, inspire and empower the next generation of leaders. We are the leading memorial and education center honoring women’s contributions to the service of our nation. We educate and inspire through innovative and interactive exhibitions; the Register, an interactive database of women's stories of service; our world-class collections; and engaging programs and events for all generations.
