Afro Cuban Classes:
We will learn the theory and concept of Afro-Cuban drumming. We will learn how to approach those percussion instruments associated with this style such as … conga drums, bongos, bells, clave, guiro, maracas and more. We will focus on how to derive the proper tone from each instrument and how they are assembled into traditional rhythmic patterns. We will ultimately learn how this musical genre has permeated many musical styles, e.g. Latin, Rhythm & Blues, Jazz, Rock, Hip Hop, House, Neo Soul, etc. All instruments will be provided at the onset. Students will culminate their studies with a class recital in the spring of 2025. Anyone who signs up for the whole eight-week session will automatically receive a free official TMS T – Shirt!
