About this Event
The Hampshire Open Junior Blitz is for all players who are aged less than 18 years on August 31st 2026 regardless of location of residence and / or school.

ARRIVE : 09.30, Intro: 09.45, Round 1: 10.00, Round 2: 10.20, Round 3: 10.40, Round 4: 11:00,

Lunch: 13.00, Round 9 14.00, Round 10: 14.20, Round 11: 14.40, Round 12: 15:00, Round 13: 15:20,
Round 14: 15:40, Round 15: 16:00
PRIZEGIVING: 16.30
TIME CONTROL : Blitz, 3 minutes plus a two second increment per completed move.
PRIZES : Cash prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st. £80
2nd. £40
3rd. £30
4th. £20

8th £5
9th£5
In addition there will be a prize of £15 for the highest placed girl player
giving a total prize fund of: £215
These are guaranteed prizes. With enough entries, prizes may be increased at the Congress Controller’s discretion.

ENTRY FEES and RULES :
• Entry fee for all age categories: £35
• Late entry fee for entries received after Friday 23rd October 2026: £10.00
• Results will be submitted to the English Chess Federation (ECF) for rating and to FIDE for rating for a blitz time control.
• Entrants must be a Junior Gold or higher ECF member but a FREE junior membership is available for a players first ever ECF membership
• Junior Bronze ECF members must upgrade from Junior Bronze to Junior Gold
The Community Centre is enclosed and a safe environment for children and announcements may be made at the commencement of the competition.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
No photography will be permitted within the playing area during play without permission. The organisers may use an official photographer to take stills and videos for publicity purposes. Please inform the organisers in advance if you wish your child to be excluded from the photographs or videos.
REFRESHMENTS:
The Community Centre is adjacent to Sainsburys and there is a branch of Starbucks within Sainsburys.
