In celebration of our 10th Anniversary Season, Fenimore's Glimmer Globe Theatre is thrilled to announce open auditions for PAID roles in our summer MainStage production of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” running on Weds. and Thurs. from July 16-August 14. This season, we’re offering housing and significant stipend to our title performer, as well as stipends for the 14+ other roles making up the rest of the ensemble. In-person auditions will be held on Thurs. March 27 and Sun. March 30. Video auditions will also be accepted, especially for out-of-area actors interested in the role of Hamlet. Actors of all experience levels are encouraged to audition!
Set in a moody, expressionist nightmare evocative of silent-era horror films, this exciting new production will bring a sense of gothic decay to Shakespeare’s revolutionary tragedy. This production will be directed by Michael Tamburrino and primarily performed in Fenimore’s gorgeous Lakeside Lucy B. Hamilton Amphitheater.
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. Prince Hamlet returns home from abroad to find a country in shambles, a family torn apart, and a father dead in the ground. Visited by a ghost with the face of his father, who begs that the prince exact revenge for his “foul and most unnatural murder” at the hand of King Claudius, the young prince begins to unravel in an existential crisis for the ages. Vividly rendered in some of the Bard’s most earth-shattering language, the resulting maelstrom of violence, betrayal, Machiavellian maneuvering, and lost love resulted in a play that has formed the very foundation of our western theatrical tradition.
The role of Hamlet is non-union and comes with shared housing at a local artist’s residency for the duration of the rehearsal process/run, as well as a stipend of $2000. Suggested sides and full audition details can be found below.
The other roles in the ensemble will be paid a stipend between $350-$600 dependent on line count. Suggested sides are provided for Hamlet, Claudius, Gertrude, Polonius, Ophelia, Horatio, Laertes, Ghost, Rosencrantz/Guildenstern, Player King/Queen, and Gravedigger.
