Hamer Place is mostly me, Ross, and I enjoy the simple things in life, like 2 1/2 minute power pop songs, liver and bacon casserole, and reading about the intricacies of ancient economies. I’ve written lots of songs in my life, mostly miserable ones, but recently I felt like a change. Inspired by some of the greatest musicians of all time, such as John Shuttleworth, Television Personalities, Frank Sidebottom, and Tina Turner, a whole new side to my songwriting opened up. My first single is A Tribute To Tina, and I mean it. That woman made me take a hard look at myself in the mirror, and I didn’t like what I saw. She’s simply the best. There are other songs on the way too: Saturday Night’s Alright (For Reading) which I think is appearing on this island’s premier DIY compilation A Litany of Failures (vol 4), and the next single Gerry’s Retired, which is a tribute to my favourite cafe. I miss it. Thanks for listening!

Padraig Cooney is now releasing material under his own name and has put together a fine 4-piece outfit to make it all happen - it's Padraig Cooney & Bedtime Now!
Bedtime Now came together in 2024 to play live and begin working on a, let us say, naturalistic (pretend it's the 1970s) set of songs. The band comprises Danny Carroll, Ross Hamer and Donal Walsh. The recordings will begin to appear in 2025 after sessions with producers Daniel Fox (Gilla Band) and David Tapley (Tandem Felix). Handy points of reference might be John Cale's mid-70s records, Warren Zevon, Richard Thompson... things of that nature.
Padraig's first solo album was the covid-era Centuries of Learning, an entirely personal synth-laden affair released on Strange Brew Records in 2022. It spawned the acclaimed Houses, sung by Padraig's wife and erstwhile bandmate, Bronwyn Murphy-White. This was followed by the EP The Common Horse.
He's been writing and performing for many years, from Land Lovers through Skelocrats to Autre Monde. He was a founder member of the Popical Island Collective, which ran a label, venue and other initiatives through the 2010s.

Dublin based singer-songwriter Danny Carroll released his debut solo album 'I Am The Cheese' in March 2024.Enlisting the help of acclaimed producer Chris W. Ryan (New Dad, Just Mustard), the two developed songs with a playful, anything goes approach, with Carroll’s songs likened to softer touchstones of indie rock, such as Jonathan Richman and Wilco. The album’s lead single Golden Hour was named by Far Out as one of the 10 best songs released by unsigned acts in 2024 - "Like Randy Newman at his best, there is plenty of beauty on display, but it is pitted with potholes that suddenly set your mind whirring"I Am The Cheese was also named in RTÉ's 10 overlooked albums of the year, stating "Carroll’s wry lyric sheet hits the sweet spot between wisdom and whimsy", while the Irish Times praised its "charmingly well-rounded" songs.Following on from shows with The High Llamas and Hamish Hawk, Danny is currently recording songs for his second solo LP.
