What to Expect:
5:30 PM: Dinner & Costume Contest! We'll start off with a potluck dinner. You're welcome to bring a dish to share, although it's not required. If you have a costume to wear, we'd love to see it! While we're eating, we'll invite folks to show off their costumes for a little red-carpet moment and explain who/what they're dressed as. Housing-themed costumes are highly encouraged, such as dressing as your favorite part of your home, a housing hero, etc. (Costumes that blame, shame, or attack others are not welcome.) Every attendee will be given three blank paper slips to vote for their favorite costume(s), and the top three costumes will be awarded a spooktacular prize!
6:00 PM: Discussion! During dinner, one of the Lincoln Housing Advocates members will walk around to the tables and ask what you'd like to talk about, and we will create a shared agenda based on what everyone says. After the costume contest, we'll move into discussion, either as a large group or as small groups, depending on what everyone would like to do. This discussion is a space for sharing your housing experiences, dreams, and schemes and connecting with fellow Lincolnites to see what we as everyday people can do to advance affordable, safe, and accessible housing for all. Every potluck discussion is different, but many discussions have resulted in Lincolnites coming together to make change happen. Examples include the introduction of policies based on issues that are highlighted during discussion, resident-led listening sessions on housing issues, and other events that continue the conversation and the action beyond a single potluck. We can't wait to see what comes this time around!
7:00 PM: Closing
