About this Event
What Exactly is a 'Glow Ride'?
As well as this being a fun event that celebrates the success of our family rides and how much family cycling is happening in the Active Village of Dunsop Bridge, this is great way to teach your kids about the importance of making themselves seen when riding bikes, particularly in autumn and winter.
During the ride, we will be riding our bikes, decorated with Glow sticks, glow in the dark stickers and any other bright decorations that you choose to bring, around popular local cycling trails.
The Glow Ride marks the end of the Dunsop Bridge Family rides, which have been part of our Big Bike Revival programme. So we are hoping to make it a spooktacular one!
This is a fun, family friendly event, please do not expect a fast paced training ride!
Who is organising this and what will it cost?
This event is organised by Breaking Cycles CIC, but we've had a lot of help along the way!
Ribble Valley eBikes, Bowland Fitness, Together an Active Future and Friends of Thorneyholme School have all played thier parts in making this event happen.
The event is part of Cycling UK's Big Bike Revival and therefore is free to attend!
How does it work?
- Helmets are mandatory (insurance), but we will bring some for you to borrow if you don’t have your own.
- eBikes can be borrowed, at no additional cost, from Ribble Valley eBikes. Please arrange this in advance so that Roger can make sure that they are charged up for you!
- If you have your own lights, please bring them with you, some lights can be borrowed from Breaking Cycles CIC, but we won’t have enough for everybody.
- Glow sticks and glow in the dark stickers are provided.
- Additional glow and glow in the dark products are welcomed as are any fairy lights etc. which you can safely attach to your bike or yourself.
- Each ticket is for one adult and one child.
- If you would like to get involved by volunteering, please contact Phil on 07746272643.
- Sarah and her team would like to invite you to donate any Pumpkin Lanterns to help decorate the room.

Is it Fancy Dress?
- Bike friendly faancy dress is encouraged, but not mandatory.
- Non bike friendly parts of Halloween costumes (hats & masks that get in the way of helmets, floaty cloaks etc. that could entangle etc.) can be kept at the village hall for the after-party!
- There are no prizes for the best fancy dress costume or the best glow bike, but there is eternal glory for the ones that people are still talking about next year!
