Tonight we celebrate that friendship in grand style, evoking the festive Vienna Prater amusement park atmosphere, combined with the elegance of the great ballrooms of Innsbruck, the musical celebration of Salzburg, and the international Halloween spirit!

Spend this Halloween season on Austrian soil for a celebration that combines Austrian culture and Halloween Excitement! Enjoy an immersive night of Austrian cuisine, an open bar, live music, ballroom dancing, film, festive traditions, a Halloween costume contest, parade, and more—all in celebration of the historic friendship between Austria and the United States as America continues to celebrate its 250th year.

PROGRAM:

PART ONE: HALLOWEEN IN 19TH CENTURY VIENNA

A) DIPLOMATIC GREETING

The evening begins with a warm welcome from members of the Embassy of Austria, marking the start of a celebration of friendship between our two nations.

B) BALLROOM DANCING

Glide across the dance floor to the timeless melodies of Johann Strauss, including the beloved Blue Danube, as we celebrate the close of the winter ball season in true Viennese fashion.

C) BALLROOM DANCE LESSONS

Optional introductory lessons will be offered by a distinguished local ballroom instructor so guests of all levels may join the dance.

D) THE RADETZKY MARCH

For the first time ever – a costumed Viennese March! Join fellow guests in Strauss’s iconic Radetzky March. With guidance from our instructors, experience one of Austria’s most cherished musical traditions.)
E) LIVE SCARY OPERA PERFORMANCE & PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
From the gruesome tale of “The Barber of Seville”, to Don Giovanni’s rage towards damnation, tonight we will be privy to performances of some of the scariest opera pieces in European History. Additional encores will showcase some of the most beloved songs from “Phantom of the Opera”.

PART TWO: HALLOWEEN IN MODERN AUSTRIA!

A) LIVE BAND

Celebrate the festive spirit of Karneval with lively Austrian and Celebratory Music – starring “Crush Funk”! Feel as though you are dancing beside Vienna’s Prater or in the festive streets of Salzburg as we enjoy one final celebration before winter’s end.

B) HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST

Guests arriving in masquerade or festive Halloween attire are invited to participate in a costume contest judged by Austrian guests. Winners will receive special prizes, followed by a celebratory parade of costumed participants through the embassy hall.

Categories Include Scariest, Most Original, and Most Representative of Austria!

C) KRAMPUSLAUF (“Krampus run” – The PARADE)

Those in costume will be joined by Krampus (early arrival for the holiday season! ) Krampus will lead the costumed attendees in a parade! This is a special Austrian tradition.

D) AUSTRIAN NIGHTCLUB OF THE WEREWOLVES
In the final part of the evening, we visit the hottest nightclubs from throughout Austria as one of Washington’s top DJs spins the best retro, top 40 40 dance hits.

FOOD:

AUSTRIAN HALLOWEEN BUFFET (VIP Option Below will Full Menu Options)

If you ever strolled through an Austrian marketplace and looked in the store windows, you can’t help but be tempted by those delectable desserts. We’ll have them for you to enjoy tonight as well, with a Halloween touch! Linzer tortes, hazelnut tortes, Viennese apple tarts, Austrian white and dark chocolate Florentines, and bittersweet Austrian chocolate squares dusted with confectioner’s sugar. Enjoy an evening buffet of these tantalizing Austrian delights, all as if picked from the best pastry shops in Austria.

AUSTRIAN WINES/BEER: Partake in a full evening of an open bar consisting of the finest wines and beers found in the best of the Austrian vineyards! The bar consists of Wine, Beer and non-alcoholic beverages.

VIP OPTION: For a little extra royalty this evening, you will get:

– Early Admission to the Gala (7:30 PM);
– Private Champagne Reception;
– Special Early Austrian Halloween Dinner Menu (TBA)
