Come step into the shadows on All Hallow's Eve & learn how our ancestors used plants and trees to protect the living and honour their dead.
About this Event

Join the Foraging Faerie for a unique guided walk through an ancient kirkyard right on the shores of the Firth of Forth and see the exact shore where Edinburgh's infamous bodysnatchers, Burke and Hare, landed their boat under cover of darkness. We’ll explore the dark relationship between Scottish folklore, the dead, and the plants that guard them and discover the hidden tales behind sacred boundary plants.

You will learn about the edible and medicinal folklore of this haunting coastal landscape.

A wild gluten free snack and a wee cup of a hot herbal infusion will be provided. Please wear suitable footwear for uneven ground and dress for the weather. No refunds unless place taken by someone on the waiting list.

Well behaved dogs welcome by arrangement in advance of the event but must be kept on a short lead.

Parking is available on rough ground past the scout hall. Please note we are meeting outside Limekilns scout hall to start and finish our walk but not going inside. The nearest public toilets are in Charlestown. We have a lovely pub, the Bruce Arms and two cafes The Sundial and The Coorie in the village if you wish to go for lunch after our walk.
