Haiku: Mindfulness, Photography, and Poetry - a Workshop on Outer Island
About this Event
Join instructor Ann Trapasso to experience haiku as a mindfulness practice, to explore how haiku principles can generate interesting photographs, and to discover how haiku allows us to say so much in just 17 syllables. By the end of the workshop, you will have taken several haiku photographs and written quite a few haiku poems; you may share one of each at the closing held in the amphitheater. A handout will be provided so you may continue the practices.
Wear sneakers or water sport shoes or sandals for good traction on rock. Sun hat and sunglasses recommended. Bring a towel, cushion, or whatever will make sitting on rock more comfortable. You will want a sturdy-backed notebook or paper and a clipboard to support writing “on the go.” Choose a pen, pencil, or marker that you particularly enjoy using and, perhaps, several colors to stimulate the brain.
