🎤 About Gayatri Asokan
Gayatri Asokan is a singer who has made her mark in Indian film music, Hindustani classical, and Ghazal genres.
A brilliant musician, she has collaborated with Maestro Ilayaraja, Padma Bhushan Sri K. J. Yesudas, Vidyasagar, Johnson, Ouseppachan, Bijibal, Gopisundar and more. She has won many coveted awards, including the Kerala Government State Award for Best Playback Singer.
She has a regular presence on TV with her Ghazal show Khayal and also Music Mojo on Kappa TV, where she explores experimental genres. Gayatri has five solo spiritual albums to her credit, one of which she composed the bhajans for (Sankirtan, Smaran, Vishuddhi, Anahata, Shivasahsranamam) — widely popular across India.
She has performed at the prestigious Shanghai World Music Festival in a fusion repertoire and has shared the stage with maestros like Ustad Fazal Qureshi, Shankar Mahadevan, Purbayan Chatterjee, Gino Banks, and many others. Her solo Hindustani classical album was released by Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia in Bangalore under the banner of the Sabha Gururao Deshpande Sangeet Sabha.
Gayatri is presently training under the doyenne of Kirana Gharana, Pt. Vinayak Torvi. She is also trained in ghazal and thumri gayaki under Vidushi Shubha Joshi. Her new Ghazal album Ghazal Gaze was launched by Times Music at Khazana Festival 2017 and is available on all online platforms including iTunes.
🎶 About Saif Naeem Ali Thirakwa
Saif Naeem Ali is a Sufi and Ghazal singer, known for his soulful performances and rich classical lineage. He hails from a musical family — his grandfather being the legendary tabla maestro Ustad Ahmed Jaan Thirakwa.
Trained by his father, Ustad Naeem Ali, Saif further honed his craft as a disciple of the legendary Ghazal maestro Ustad Ghulam Ali Khan Sahab.
