For Hagaman Library's Monthly Free Movie Night, we'll be screening "Hamnet" (Rated PG-13) on Thursday, March 26th at 6pm at East Haven Public Television on 230 Main Street. Directed by Academy Award-winning Chloe Zhao, and based on the bestselling novel by Maggie O'Farrell, "Hamnet" follows Agnes and Will Shakespeare: After losing their son Hamnet to plague, Agnes and William grapple with grief in 16th-century England. A healer, Agnes must find strength to care for her surviving children while processing her devastating loss.
"Hamnet" won Best Motion Picture, and Jessie Buckley won Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture at the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards; the movie is also nominated in eight categories at the upcoming 99th Academy Awards, including in major categories such as Best Picture and Best Actress for Jessie Buckley.
