Help Nature and Learn About Wildlife With Your Friends & Neighbors

is taking the Santa Ana River Coastal Corridor (the tidal influence zone) under our wing to help clean it up and restore its habitats. Join us!

Notes:

Volunteers under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

• WAIVER: Please before the event if you haven't already this calendar year. All minors must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver on their behalf.

Restore Habitat

You and your community are invited to join CCA to restore habitat for native wildlife at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa. We have lots of opportunities!

• Thursdays 7 am - 9 am
• Fridays 8 am - 10 am
• 3rd Saturdays 9 am - 11:30 am.

What We Do

In partnership with the City of Costa Mesa we restore some degraded areas in Fairview Park to native habitat by:

• Remove invasive plants
• Collect native seeds
• Plant native plants
• Care for the young plants until they are established, by watering and maintaining the soil
• Remove debris in the soil
• More!

Along the way we learn about the watershed, soil, plants, and animals we see around us and discover the roles they play in local ecosystems. This is an amazing opportunity for hands-on learning for how to better care for our local environment!

Why Do Restoration At Fairview Park?

The Santa Ana River watershed drains the water and waste of three counties, emptying into the Pacific Ocean. Fairview Park sits along the Santa Ana River (SAR) estuary area, which makes it an important influence on these connected lands and waters, on into the ocean.

Cleaning up and restoring the coastal lands and waters in the SAR tidal influence zone reduces pollution from this primary regional waterway, adds native nutrients to the soil and runoff, and invites native birds, mammals, reptiles, and more back to their native habitats.

Descripción General

Nos reunimos en Fairview Park todos los Jueves y Viernes, si el clima y los días festivos lo permiten.

Jueves: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM

Viernes: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM

El Tercer Sábado de Cada Mes, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Enviamos un mensaje cada Jueves para confirmar o cancelar la actividad del viernes por la mañana.

El único requisito es completar nuestro formulario de **exención de responsabilidad,** el cual es válido por un año completo para cualquier actividad de CCA.

Qué hacemos:

Nuestras actividades principales consisten en remover plantas invasoras para mantener y preparar las áreas de restauración de hábitat en Fairview Park. A veces también plantamos plantas nativas o semillas, recolectamos y procesamos semillas nativas, recogemos basura y realizamos otras actividades. ¡Siempre es una gran experiencia!

Qué traer:

• Una botella de agua llena
• Zapatos resistentes
• Ropa que pueda ensuciarse, que lo mantenga abrigado si hace frío y que lo proteja del sol y de los arbustos espinosos

Nosotros contamos con las herramientas y guantes necesarios, pero si lo desean pueden traer los suyos. Las herramientas que usamos con más frecuencia son pequeños picos y herramientas manuales para deshierbar.
