Habibi Dancers 42nd Annual Spring Concert & Workshops: Metamorphosis

Please join us for "Metomorphosis" our annual spring concert and workshops on April 11-12, 2026. This year our featured artist is Devin Alfather. Devin Alfather is a multidisciplinary dancer currently specializing in Theatrical Fusion Raqs Sharqi, Theatrical Circus arts, and other contemporary Fusion dances. This notorious noodler is a multi-award winning dancer and choreographer, and is a continuous student of first person sources. She has toured across the American Southwest with the Phycadelic Bellydance troupe Disco Iskandar as well as the West Coast from California to Portland. This full-time performer and entertainer is also the Director of The Jewel Box Dancers, and spends any spare time she has knee-deep in rhinestones. She can't wait to share her brand of strange and unusual works with the world.

Saturday Concert April 11, 2026: Metamorphosis! Doors open at 7:30 PM, Concert begins at 8 PM. Concert is held in the Hannah Community Center, Albert A. White Performing Arts Theater, at 819 Abbott Rd, East Lansing, Michigan, 48823. Tickets are $15 in advance (excluding Eventbrite fees) and $20 at the door. You can also purchase tickets directly from your favorite Habibi Dancer!

Saturday and Sunday Workshops will be held Hannah Community Center, main gym, at 819 Abbott Rd, East Lansing, Michigan, 48823. No food or drink allowed in the gym other than water. Wear comfy clothes. Please wear a quiet hip scarf. No props are required for any workshop. Vendor tables will be set up both days in the gym.

Saturday April 11, 2026 Workshops: From 10 AM to Noon, Devin will focus on arms, turns, and layering techniques! Saturday early bird tickets are $99 through March 21. Beginning March 22, ticket prices are $115 per person. Prices exclude Eventbrite ticket fees.

• 9 AM to 10 AM : Registration/Checkin
• 10 AM to 11 AM: But I'm Not a Turner! Spotted vs. unspotted turns, explore the inner workings of a dancer in spins. Explore the most common types of turns that you'll see in bellydance, stage performance, Raqs Sharqi and fusion Dance.
• 11 AM to Noon: Arm-wave Alchemy Unlock the elegance and power of expressive arms in this fluid fusion workshop! Designed for dancers of all levels, this class focuses on the technique, control, and artistry of arm waves—an essential element in fusion styles that bridges bellydance, contemporary, and street-dance influences
• Noon to 1:30 PM: Lunch on your own
• 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM: Axel Anthology An exploration of the how's and why's of complex layering the torso and beyond. Unlock gateways to intricate patterns and the building blocks of a-typical layering, both timed and freestyle!

Sunday April 12, 2026 Workshop: From 1 PM to 4 PM Devin will teach Snake Eyed, a fusion belly dance choreography. Sunday early bird tickets are $65 through March 21. Beginning March 22, tickets are $95 per person. Prices exclude Eventbrite ticket fees. Please note that the Hannah Community Center doesn't open until Noon on Sundays.

• 12:30 PM -1 PM: Registration
• 1 PM - 4 PM: Snake Eyed: This workshop incorporates multiple styles of RaqsSharqi, Fusion Bellydance, Waving, and Contemporary dance. Undulating layers atop fancy footwork with unexpected, atypical and complex pathways. This choreography includes floorwork with level up (or down) options for dancers who prefer not to go to the floor.
  

Saturday and Sunday Workshop Combo Tickets: If you are registering for both the Saturday workshop and the Sunday workshop, the early bird combo tickets are $139 through March 21 (excluding Eventbrite ticket fees) which is a savings of $25! There is no combo ticket option after March 22.
