The Gypsy Horse Registry of America maintains the highest standards and ethics in maintaining the stud book and registrations. A close working relationship with the Gypsy Cob Breeders and Founders of the Breed Standard in the United Kingdom give the Gypsy Horse Registry of America the partnerships needed to lead the way to preserve the future of the breed and the knowledge to comprehend its origins.
The Registry welcomes you to join us on this incredible journey with truly magnificent horses and people!
Gypsy Horse Registry of America has a rich history in the history of Cob horses. The Gypsy Cob Society of America was established in 2003 and is a proud sister to the Gypsy Cob Society, United Kingdom established in 2001. It was renamed Gypsy Horse Registry of America, Inc. in 2008.
The GHRA is an educational organization encouraging the use, exhibition and perpetuation of the Gypsy Horse. The Gypsy Horse Registry of America’s Ambassador Award Program is an annual award presented to the highest points attained by full bred gypsy horses and crossbred gypsy horses for their placement at shows, events or special presentation to educationally promote the breed by GHRA Members in good standing and GHRA Registered Horses.
The GHRA was established to maintain pedigrees through a DNA structured database. The Gypsy Horse Registry of America DNA test each horse to parent qualify when parental DNA is available. Extensive records are kept on each and every horse that has ever been registered through the GHRA.
Our focus at GHRA is to support our members so that collectively we can preserve and respect the rich cultural heritage of our breed and the people who came before us.
We believe that only through active collaboration with all of our members, global breed experts and admirers can we achieve our ultimate goal of keeping this breed aligned to the hallmark conformation and disposition standards these exceptional horses possess. We’ll accomplish this goal through socialization of the breed and education in history and breeding techniques.
Our registry is committed to ensuring our GHRA registered horses are much more than just a name and a fancy color. They are beautiful representations of the rich history of the horse while at the same time being ambassadors in preserving the lineage of breed for future generations. We will bring the breed to life by encouraging like-minded owners to come together to share experiences and enjoy everything this loving breed has to offer.
