GYP – Music & Diplomacy: The Power of Cultural Exchange
About this Event
Exclusive event for young professionals
During the Cold War, the U.S. State Department sent Louis Armstrong and Dizzy Gillespie on tour as cultural ambassadors, using jazz as a foreign policy tool. Music has been shaping politics and diplomacy for centuries.
On Music & Diplomacy we will explore the Baroque era’s courtly compositions to today’s local arts organizations, and how musicians and artists have moved political ideas, built cultural exchange, and fostered understanding across borders, then and now.
