GUILDFORD FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS - Japanese Calligraphy Introduction Workshop

I am delighted to have been invited to teach Japanese calligraphy as part of the Guildford Festival of the Arts 2026. This annual festival brings together artists, performers and creative communities from across the region, and I am honoured to contribute to its programme with a 90‑minute introductory workshop on the art of shodō.
In this session, you will explore the calming and expressive nature of Japanese calligraphy through traditional tools, guided brush practice and the beauty of simple kanji characters. Whether you are new to calligraphy or simply curious about Japanese culture, this workshop offers a peaceful space to slow down, focus and enjoy a mindful creative experience. All materials are provided, and everyone is warmly welcome.
