About this Event

What are lichens and why are they important?

Lichens are a ‘keystone’ species in many ecosystems. They serve as a food source and habitat for many animals such as deer, birds and rodents. They provide nesting materials for birds. They protect trees and rocks from extreme elements such as rain, wind and snow. They are also an indicator of air quality.

Join members of the Plymouth Lichen Group on a guided walk on the Hoe to learn more about these fascinating species and their relationship with trees.

The walk is free, although the event is space limited, so we request that you only register if you intend to come and let us know if you are no longer able to.

We will meet outside the Promenade Cafe on the Hoe.
