Join us for a refreshing Urban Nature Walk at The Crystal Shoppe on Oak! Discover the hidden gems of nature right in the heart of the city.

Join Helen Sierminski of Nola Sidewalk Gardens and Forests for an Urban Nature Walk around the Carrollton Neighborhood, to begin and end at the Crystal Shoppe on Oak. Please plan to arrive at 1:45pm to get settled in. Urban Nature Walks are mindfulness walks designed to engage and inspire walkers to notice the details of nature within an urban setting. We will be looking out for birds, trees, flowers, lizards, insects and other flora and fauna that we see along our walk. It is suggested to bring binoculars, comfortable walking shoes and a high level of curiosity. We will walk for about an hour before returning to the Shoppe. Consider downloading Merlin bird app and Seek by INaturalist before the walk. Helen is an Urban Naturalist who runs an Instagram page called Nola Sidewalk Gardens and Forests, a homage to the overhanging trees and opulent gardens seen along the sidewalks of New Orleans. She loves nature and sharing her knowledge and joy with others. She just completed the Master Naturalist Course of Greater New Orleans. She is on the Board for the Native Plant Initiative of Greater New Orleans. This is a great opportunity to unwind, connect with nature, and learn something new.
