Guided Tour of Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site

In the heart of our country, on the edge of the city he called home, is the final resting place of President Abraham Lincoln, his wife, and three of their children. Built with donations from across America, the Lincoln Tomb honors the memory of our nation's greatest president and those who struggled with him toward a new birth of freedom.
We invite you to join us in honoring and remembering the Lincoln family with a guided 30-minute tour of the Lincoln Tomb.
The tours listed on this page are for groups of fewer than 15 persons; groups of 15 or more are reqiured to schedule their tour through Visit Springfield, the convention and visitor's bureau. Visit their site at visitspringfieldillinois.com for more information.
Please meet your guide at the Borglum bust of Lincoln on the plaza in front of the tomb to begin your tour. In inclement weather, head inside and meet your guide in the tomb rotunda.
Weather permitting, the tour will include a discussion of the tomb's construction and exterior statuary while on the plaza, with further discussion and history inside the tomb rotunda. Conclude your tour by walking through the burial chamber to pay your respects to the Lincoln family. Please note, this tour does NOT visit the caretaker's residence or the upper deck of the Lincoln Tomb.
Reservations for guided tours for individuals, families and small groups are offered for guest convenience and planning only; they are not required. Walk-ins are welcome. The Lincoln Tomb interior is also open daily from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm for self-guided exploration and reflection.

You do not need to print your ticket for this event. We’ll check you in by the name your registration is under—just give your name at the door, and we’ll take care of the rest.
