Guided tour of Bror Hjorth’s art and home
Approximately 45 minutes.
We look at art works in different materials and techniques from Bror Hjorth’s whole artistic career. We talk about his biography and his life as an artist. You will also learn how the house and museum came to be and have changed over the years.
Bror Hjorth (1894-1968) grew up a couple of miles north of Uppsala. He received his artistic education in Paris, where he lived and worked throughout the 1920s. He trained as a sculptor, but became just as much a painter and a professor in Drawing at the Royal Art Academy in Stockholm.
He was influenced by both older and contemporary art and was inspired by folk art and music.
The museum has the largest and most representative collection of Bror Hjorth’s art.
The tour and entrance to the museum is free.
