About this Event

Moon Nights at Miller Woods: Guided Moonwalk Tour

This lunar-focused evening is perfect for first-time stargazers and families. At this phase, the Moon's craters, mountain ranges, and seas are absolutely dazzling through the telescope.

Join Carlton Observatory in partenrship with Yamhill Soil & Water Conservation District at Miller Woods for an evening that blends science, wonder, and a beautiful walk under the stars.

The evening includes a short guided walk along our moon tour trail — a gravel path that winds around a moonlit pond and through the trees. Keep an eye (and ear) out along the way: Miller Woods is home to plenty of local wildlife, and evening walks often bring surprise encounters. We'll have telescopes set up for close-up views of the Moon — a chance to see those craters, mountain ranges, and lunar seas up close — along with other sights in the night sky.

This is a guided group event. We'll gather at the kiosk to start the evening — look for our red light, which marks the meeting point and helps preserve everyone's night vision. For safety and the best experience, attendees must stay with the group throughout the tour.

When: Wednesday, August 26, 7:00–11:00 PM Where: Miller Woods, 15580 NW Orchard View Rd, McMinnville, OR 97128
