Guided Meditative Walk: Finding Abundance in Plain Sight (Multiple Dates)
About this Event
The Battery is not just a park—it’s a story of how we can rebuild our lives, written in land, water, and time. This meditative walk is a guided experience on how we rebuild our lives, using The Battery as a living map.
New York is often experienced as noise, urgency, and constant motion. But it is also a place of stillness, structure, and quiet beauty—if we learn how to see it. The theme that guides this walk is simple: There is abundance in plain sight.
We often think of meditation as something we do sitting still, indoors. This experience invites you to approach it differently. This is a meditative walk—where reflection, awareness, and meaning are integrated into movement through a real place. As we move through The Battery, we’ll explore how its spaces, textures, and design can reflect the process of rebuilding a life. We won’t focus on memorizing facts. Instead, we’ll use what is already around us as a way to notice, reflect, and reconnect. This is not a traditional meditation class, but a hybrid experience that blends symbolism, stoic philosophy, personal narrative, and guided awareness.
What We’ll Do: During this 60-minute experience, we will:
- Walk through Battery Park with guided reflection
- Practice simple awareness techniques
- Engage with the environment in a more intentional way
- Explore how external spaces can reflect internal states
- End with an optional 15-minute guided meditation
Along the way, we’ll explore themes such as:
- Moving through change in non-linear ways
- Rebuilding after disruption
- The role of structure and support in growth
- The balance between openness and boundaries
- Remembering, honoring, and letting go
- What it means to feel grounded in the present moment
All are welcome to join, and no meditation experience is necessary. This experience may especially resonate if you:
- Are in a period of transition
- Are traveling alone
- Enjoy reflection, writing, or philosophy
- Want something quieter and more meaningful than a typical NYC tour
- Are curious about meditation but prefer a grounded, non-traditional approach
About The Guide: Gargi Sen is a lawyer and writer based in New York, and the creator of Unsquashable Girl. She writes: "I moved here to rebuild my life, and I used to walk this park daily with my dog, Mr. Dempsey. Over time, I began to experience The Battery differently—not just as a park, but as a space that reflected something deeper about rebuilding, resilience, and presence. This walk comes from that experience."
