Guided Lenten Experience on Discernment
About this Event
Discernment is “the process of intentionally becoming aware of how God is present, active, and calling us… so that we can respond with increasingly greater faithfulness.” — Sr. Elizabeth Liebert
In the Christian tradition, discernment is the practice of noticing and responding to God's invitations with openness and trust. Lent is a wonderful time to explore this practice, as a way to slow down, listen more deeply, and become attentive to God’s presence in our lives.
This guided Lenten experience begins with an in-person gathering that will offer an overview on discernment and a focus on its first movement, which is to prepare our hearts to listen. Through reflection, prayer, and time in solitude, participants will begin cultivating the inner attentiveness that discernment requires.
Date: Thursday, February 11, 2027
Time: 9:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m. (CST)
Location: Tau Center
Facilitator: Tammy Winn
The remaining movements of discernment will be introduced through a companion booklet that all participants will receive, as well as three brief follow-up videos to mark the other stages of this process.
Whether facing a specific decision or simply longing to become more attentive to God's guidance, this experience offers a gentle framework for listening, reflecting, and responding throughout the Lenten season.
