About the Park: The park’s land has a bittersweet beauty. Almost all of today’s redwood forest was clear-cut in a 40-year logging frenzy from 1883 to 1923. When the loggers left the Aptos Canyon, the forest began to heal itself; now, the scars grow fainter with each passing year. The Forest of Nisene Marks is a monument to forest regeneration and the future—it is a forest in a perpetual state of becoming.
About the Hike: Join Sempervirens Fund for an easy hike through one of the most beautiful areas of Nisene Marks State Park. This hike will follow a portion of the Loma Prieta Grade Small Loop, with intriguing stops including the Porter House site and the Loma Prieta Sawmill site, creating an exciting mix of history and nature. This is an easy hike, great for those looking for a gentle experience through the redwoods.
To join this group hike, all participants are required to sign a liability waiver.

Address: Hike will depart from the Porter Family Picnic Area parking lot (furthest back parking lot after entering the park)
Please Note: The drive to the parking lot is a long dustry track. Please save time to drive slowly so as to limit dust.
Dogs are not allowed at this location.

- There are toilets available near the entrance to the park.
