Join us as we hike and enjoy the fall wildflowers of Chassahowitzka Wildlife Management Area. We'll meet at the main entrance off of US-19 promptly at 9:00 am, then participants will need to follow center staff using their personal vehicle to the Indigo Lane trailhead. We'll then hike the roughly 3/4 mile Wild Turkey Trace trail, after that, we'll hike the nearby 3/4 mile Cypress Circle trail. There is a low water crossing along the Cypress Circle trail that may be inundated on the day of the hike, so please come prepared to get your feet wet if you choose to hike that portion of the trail with us. The combined distance for both trails is about 1.5 miles. Please be advised, there is a restroom at the main entrance, but there are no restrooms near the trails. There is also no drinking water available anywhere on the WMA. We recommend bringing water, bug spray and sun protection. We also recommend wearing close toed shoes and long pants.
While normally Chassahowitzka WMA requires a day-use fee, the fee is waived for participants during this program. If you plan on exploring the WMA before or after the program, we advise paying the required fee of $3 per person or $6 per vehicle.
