Guided "Strawberry Moon" Full Moon Paddle

When:
Join us Monday June 29th from 8:45-10:15pm for our guided Strawberry Moon, Full Moon Paddle!
This special event is prepay/preregister so we can prepare. Please call us to get registered and paid. 419.707.2285
We will be paddling by the light of the full moon along the banks of the Portage River.
What's provided for each attendee:
~Your choice of a single kayak, double kayak, 2 man canoe, or 3 man canoe fitted with a lantern.
~A life vest
~A paddle
~A bottle of water
~Bug spray
~Glow sticks
What to bring:
~A change of clothes (remember kayaking is a wet sport) (optional)
~A towel (recommended)
~Water shoes (optional)
~A flashlight (optional)
All ages are welcome. Anyone under 18 however must be accompanied by an adult.
Difficulty:
Easy
No kayaking or paddling experience required.
We will go at a slow pace and enjoy the nighttime wildlife and the light of the Strawberry Moon.
Please arrive by 8:45pm so we can get everyone's waivers filled out and your boats ready.
A little history on the naming of moons:
The naming of moons dates back to Native American tribes and European Settlers. Moons were named to keep track of the seasons and important upcoming events.
June’s Full Moon is named after the wild strawberries that start to ripen during this month. According to some sources, a European name for this early summer month was Rose Moon, and another was Hot Moon, for the beginning of the summer heat. Other sources quote Mead Moon as the Anglo-Saxon name because this was the time for mowing the meads, or meadows!
Cost:
$35/ person
$20/ Bring Your Own Kayak ($20 per person, includes a bottle of water, bug spray, glow sticks, a safe place to park your car, the guided paddle, and a lantern for your boat. Your boat must be registered with the state of Ohio.)
Refunds will not be given if it is cloudy and we do not get to see the moon. This is an outdoor experience and mother nature always wins!
If inclement weather is expected and we have to postpone the event you will have a choice of getting a raincheck for the next full moon paddle, credit, or being issued a refund.
Cancellation policy:
If you have to cancel please do so 7 days prior to the event so we can try to book it for someone else. 3-6 days prior a 50% refund will be issued. Within 3 days no refund will be issued.
