Guide FlyFishing Weekend

We’re pleased to announce that our next casting weekend will take place at Edinburgh Angling Centre on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd August 2026. This year’s event will be a Sage, Vision and RIO Weekend, with Jim Fearne and Martyn Robinson joining us to showcase the latest Sage and Vision fly rods and RIO fly lines. You’ll have the opportunity to try a selection of single and double-handed setups on our accessible 70ft casting pond, get advice on choosing the right tackle and pick up some useful casting tips from two highly experienced instructors. We’ll also be hosting another free-to-enter accuracy casting competition across the weekend, with separate adult and junior categories and some fantastic prizes up for grabs. The adult winner will receive a Vision XO Catapult 10ft #7 rod worth £899.99, while the junior winner will receive a Vision Trout Hero 9ft #5 rod. Both first-place winners will also receive a Vision hat. The adult and junior runners-up will receive a RIO Premier Gold XP fly line in WF7F and WF5F respectively, along with a Sage hat. Third-place prizes are a RIO Mainstream WF7F for the adult category and a RIO Mainstream WF5F for the junior category, with a RIO hat also going to each winner. Entry to the casting competition is completely free, so come along, test your accuracy and see how you get on. Whether you’re looking to try the latest equipment, improve your casting or simply spend some time talking fly fishing, it’s shaping up to be a brilliant weekend at Edinburgh Angling Centre.
