Led by award-winning Hong Kong illusionist Keanu Ho Kirin, this interactive workshop offers a rare introduction to the principles, history and artistry behind Gu Cai Xifa (Ancient Chinese Colour Illusions), a recognised form of China's Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Rather than simply learning magic tricks, participants will explore how illusion has been used throughout Chinese history to tell stories, convey symbolism and create moments of wonder. Keanu will share the cultural origins of traditional Chinese illusion arts, demonstrate key performance concepts, and introduce accessible techniques that reveal the craftsmanship behind the impossible.

About Keanu Ho Kirin
Keanu Ho Kirin is an award-winning Hong Kong illusionist, social entrepreneur and founder of Social Innovation Magician. A former Hong Kong Magic Champion and Asian Magic Championships third-place winner, he has performed and judged at international magic conventions across Asia and was recognised as Best Magician and Best Magic Tutor at the 2018 BIMC International Magic Convention.
After years of performing internationally, Keanu returned to his cultural roots, dedicating himself to the research and revitalisation of Gu Cai Xifa (Ancient Chinese Colour Illusions). Through his pioneering New Style Xifa, he combines traditional Chinese illusion with contemporary performance techniques, bringing this unique form of intangible cultural heritage to audiences around the world.
Alongside his artistic career, Keanu is passionate about using illusion as a force for social good. Through his social enterprise and educational initiatives, he works with young people, individuals with special educational needs, and underrepresented communities, championing the belief that "Everyone has the ability to create miracles."
