Guide Dogs' Children and Young People's Services are delighted to invite children with a vision impairment and their immediate family members to our festive family event at the Great North Museum: Hancock on Saturday 22nd November.Named after Newcastle born taxidermist, John Hancock, this family friendly museum offers something for everyone to enjoy.
Step into the world of Ancient Egypt and learn about Mummification! Or immerse your senses in Natural Northumbria to uncover what is special about the North East’s animals and plants! Great North Museum prides itself on their varying programme of exhibitions and often compliments these with expert talks and activities for children, making for a fun, interactive and multi-sensory experience.
Our day will start at approximately 10:30am with families arriving at our private function space for a warm welcome and refreshments. Families are free to explore the museum and have the option to attend the workshop activity that Great North Museum is kindly providing for our Guide Dogs guests.
At midday, we will be serving everyone a delicious lunch; a great opportunity to sit down and meet other families! Staff from our Children and Young People’s Services will also be available throughout the day to provide valuable information, advice, and guidance.
Children with a vision impairment plus one parent/guardian attend free. Immediate family members are a suggested donation of £7.50.
Booking is essential - please contact the Family Events Team directly at [email protected] for a booking form. Once you have received booking confirmation, further information will be sent to all those confirmed closer to the event date.
