About this Event

About the Event
St Edmund Hall is delighted to welcome Professor Paul Skokowski (Stanford University; Fellow of St Edmund Hall) for a special talk on his new book, Sensing Qualia: Solving the Hard Problem of Consciousness.

In this talk, Professor Skokowski will explore one of the most profound questions in philosophy and cognitive science: how subjective experience—what it feels like to see colour, hear sound, or feel pain—arises from the physical processes of the brain. Drawing on philosophy, neuroscience, and physics, he presents a new approach to understanding consciousness.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.

About the Speaker
Paul Skokowski is a philosopher and cognitive scientist at Stanford University and Executive Director of the Center for the Explanation of Consciousness. His research focuses on perception, consciousness, and the relationship between mind and world.
