Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by crafting your own Guatemalan worry doll. Supplies are provided but are limited. Registration is required. For ages 3-10 and their families. The origin of the worry doll (also known as Muñeca Quitapena) is based in Mayan tradition intended to provide a comforting ritual for managing anxieties, especially for children. According to tradition, when children are scared or have nightmares, parents give them worry dolls before they go to sleep. The children would tell their doll about their fears and worries before placing them under their pillow at night and when they wake up, their worries or concerns are gone!
