Fall Semester, September 27 - December 11, 2025
  • WHEN & WHERE

The Fall Semester will begin on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Classes will meet once a week at 32 Prince St (Soho).


  • PARTICIPANTS

With the exception of a course dedicated to children (age 5-8), all other courses are designed for adults. Parents of teens who may wish to enroll their children in any of the courses offered should enquire about availability and permission to register.


  • CLASS SIZE & REQUIREMENTS

β€’ Minimum number of Students per course: 7β€’ Maximum number of Students per course: 12

Courses will be canceled if the minimum number of students is not reached five days before the scheduled start of classes. Courses will be closed once the maximum number of students is reached.

Out of respect for your professors and fellow students, we ask participants to attend regularly. If more than two of the first five classes are missed, we recommend not continuing with the course.

If you want to register for more than one course, please note that you are expected to attend all classes for each course.


  • WAITING LIST

If the course you selected is at capacity, you may place your name on the waiting list for that course. We will notify you if an opening occurs.


  • COURSE CONTRIBUTION

The amount you donate is up to you. We are committed to making our classes accessible to everyone, and we trust in the generosity of those who are able.

The suggested contributions are:

β€’ $200 for the Italian for Children class.

β€’ $250 for all other courses.

The suggested contributions are kept at a minimum sufficient to cover all costs associated with running the program. If you wish, you are welcome to contribute more, and we truly appreciate any generosity you can offer. Charitable contributions to a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization may be tax-deductible.

  • COURSE SELECTION

To make your course selection, and for more details, please be guided by the table below and the course description available in the 'Agenda' section, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

  • CANCELLATION POLICY

There is no registration refund for cancellation of course(s) on your part. If cancellation occurs not more than one week prior to the start of the semester, you may receive credit to register for the next semester. If GTF cancels the course for any reason, your donation minus any Eventbrite fees will be reimbursed.


  • INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The course-specific syllabus will be provided on the first day of class, and the instructor will notify you of any supplies you may need.


  • MAKE-UP CLASSES

If you miss a class, speak with the course instructor to receive guidance and any material that may have been distributed in class. If you feel that you need to arrange a make-up class, you may book it directly with your instructor.

  • PHOTOGRAPHIC RELEASE

Participants will be required to sign a Photographic Release Form at the start of the course. Photos taken during classes may be used for internal, educational, or promotional purposes, including websites, social media, and printed materials.

Italian Beginner (A1/A2) - Group 1 | Tuesday 10:00-11:15am

Info: The beginner course is designed for students who have already been introduced to the Italian language and are beginning to use the language in familiar situations.
What to expect after attending all the sessions and doing the assignments:
Participants will be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g., very basic personal and family information, studying, making calls, and dinner with friends). Will be able to interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

English Conversation II - Group 1 | Tuesday 10:00-11:15am

Info: This course is a continuation of the English Conversation classes offered in the Spring semester. Its goal is to improve conversational skills and personal confi dence when speaking English through the discussion of subjects of interest to the students. This will be achieved by posing a topic around which the students can learn new vocabulary, and colloquial and idiomatic expressions. If it becomes evident that there is the need to "clean up" a grammar point, a small amount of time will be spent reviewing that information. Students will also work on their pronunciation on an as-needed basis.

Will be able to describe in simple terms aspects of their background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need. Will be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in community, work, leisure, etc.

Info: The novice course is designed for students who are approaching the study of Italian for the first time.

Participants will be able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at social interaction of informal type. They will be able to introduce themselves and others and ask/answer questions about personal details such as where they live, people they know and things they like to do.

Info: This course is designed for individuals who are well on the way to developing proficiency in the Italian language. This course aims to enrich knowledge of Italian language, culture, and society through conversational classes that will use sources and materials coming from Literature, Cinema, and Italian Newspapers. Designed for students who already possess a good knowledge of the language and grammar basics, we will use multimedia approaches to enter in a very simple way within the deep core of Italian Culture. Students will write a weekly diary where they will be asked to reflect on a certain topic that was discussed in class or to write any kind of reflections; debate and discussions will be more than welcomed. When needed, the teacher will approach a particular grammatical subject that needs to be reviewed or explained to the class for the benefit of conversational skills.
