Our guest presenter for our August 20th meeting will be Maxine Thirteen, a figurative oil painter based in St. Louis, Missouri. Her work draws inspiration from vintage photographs, advertisements, classic films, and pin-up imagery to explore themes of femininity, social satire, and introspection. By blending glamorous subjects with macabre and unexpected elements, her paintings both attract and challenge viewers.
Maxine has exhibited throughout the United States, including shows in Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Kansas City, and numerous venues across the St. Louis region. Her artwork has appeared at Duane Reed Gallery, Foundry Art Centre, Houska Gallery, the St. Louis Artists’ Guild, and the Missouri History Museum, among others.
In addition to exhibiting, Maxine has created artwork for local businesses and has been featured in several regional publications. She was named "Artist of the Year" in the 2022 STL Bucket List Local’s Choice Awards.
A 2024 Artist INC Fellow and participant in the Saint Louis Art Fair’s Emerging Artists as Entrepreneurs Program, Maxine currently maintains studio affiliations with galleries in both St. Louis and New Orleans.
